To be enjoyed as a delicious side dish or as an afternoon snack while you’re watching the game, this raw spread will be ready to eat in less than 2 minutes, promise!
Ingredients:
1 ripe avocado
1 tsp dried shallots or herbs and spices of your choice*
1 garlic clove, minced (optional)
broccoli and/or alfalfa sprouts
salt and pepper, to taste
cherry tomatoes (optional)
black olives (optional)
Preparation:
The hardest part is picking an organic ripe avocado! When you press it with a small amount of pressure there should be some “give.” The next step is to remove the pit from the avocado, and here is one way of doing it: slice the avocado in half, starting at the narrower end and moving slowly down the center lengthwise and around the pit. Twist and rotate the two halves apart. Finally, use a spoon to dig out the pit. If you are having trouble, try cutting the avocado half into fourths as this will make it easier to dislodge the pit. Note, however, that if it is really hard to remove, chances are that the avocado is not ripe.
Once the pit is removed, scoop out the flesh of the avocado with a spoon and place it in a medium size bowl. Using a fork, mash the avocado until you get a smooth consistency. Add the dried shallots, minced garlic clove, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.
Spread the mixture on the crackers of your choice. Garnish with sprouts (Refer to the user guide that came with your Markito Nutrition kit to grow broccoli, alfalfa, or salad mix sprouts, all of which add great flavor and richness to this snack). We also enjoy adding either a sliced cherry tomato or olive on top.
*Note: To make this recipe even more delicious, we use a herb and spice blend called Salad Seasoning from the brand Dion. This is a mix of sesame seeds, dehydrated onion, dehydrated lemon peel, celery seed, dehydrated red pepper, parsley, and black pepper. Your local health store should have a similar blend available.
Makes 1-2 servings.

Any recommendations for healthy oil and gluten-free crackers?
Sorry for the late response Dr. Larose. That’s a great question! We do make oil and gluten free raw dehydrated (or baked) crackers using sprouted chickpeas as well as sprouted buckwheat. It is on our to-do list to post a recipe here, and will do so shortly! Thank you.
Very good match ! and i have tried as you said .if I can join the cheese do ingredients ?
Nutritions and delicous
Hi Lina, thank you for your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed our recipe. Regarding cheese: we do not recommend any animal based foods, and we especially stay away from all dairy products. The associations between dairy consumption and disease have been well documented in the scientific community. This topic is discussed in our lecture videos on breast cancer and osteoporosis, both available on this website.
Our recipes have zero cholesterol, no animal saturated fat, and are rich in fiber, antioxidants, enzymes, phytochemicals, and healthy fats. Animal based foods, such as cheese, provide us with zero fiber, zero antioxidants, and are high in both cholesterol and saturated fat. Thus our goal is to help people transition to a much healthier plant based diet, and to do so in a fun and enriching environment. Eliminating cheese can be difficult, but I promise that the benefits in the end are well worth the efforts. All the best.
Yes , you are right !I support your point of view
