Hummus-Balila

This traditional Lebanese dish makes a great Mediterranean style appetizer, or can be served as a main meal with a salad on the side. The beauty of this recipe is in it’s simplicity, and when you use the best ingredients you are saying YES to great taste, and YES to complete nutrition.


Ingredients:

1 cup chickpeas, dry
4 garlic cloves, minced
Juice of 1 lemon
1-2 Tbsp olive oil (optional)
1/2 tsp powdered cumin
Parsley, minced (garnish)
Salt, to taste

 

Preparation:

Sprout the chickpeas for approximately 2 days (you may refer to the user guide that came with your Markito Nutrition sprouting kit).

Steam the sprouted chickpeas for 5-6 minutes. Take about half or more of the sprouted chickpeas and blend them with the garlic, lemon juice, cumin and salt. (You can add a bit of the steaming water if you wish to have a softer consistency.) Place the mixture in a bowl and add the remaining whole chickpeas on top. Garnish with oil (optional), parsley and salt.

Makes 2-4 servings.
