Parents have enough reasons to be concerned for their young children, Covid should not be on that list.
According to data from the CDC, children aged 5-14 years old are 11 times more likely to die of cancer, and 10 times more likely to die in a car accident than from Covid.
Children between the ages of 1-4 are 14 times more at risk of drowning, and 4 times more likely to die from the flu than from Covid.
Infants under the age of 1 are 20 times more likely to die from suffocation, and 3 times more likely to die from the flu than from Covid.
As an article from the New York Times rationally stated, “The biggest risk to your child’s health today almost certainly is not Covid. It’s more likely to be an activity that you have long decided is acceptable – like swimming, riding a bicycle or traveling in a car”.
There is also no evidence that the Delta variant is cause to raise concern for our children.
Regardless of the media’s bias and reliance on fear for ratings, parents deserve to know the truth. We have enough on our plates as it is.
Also, teach your children how to swim.
