Sprouted Oats Breakfast

Markito Nutrition breakfastThis is, without a doubt, the most nutritious oat breakfast on earth. Unlike oat groats or steal-cut oats, sprouted hulless oats have not been heated or processed in any way. They are truly whole, intact, “living” grains that will finally provide you with the health benefits that commercial cereal companies only lie about on their packaging. Note that instead of oats you may use other sprouted grains such as kamut, rye, and/or buckwheat. In fact, our clients often sprout several grains in the same jar- enjoying the variety in their breakfast.

Ingredients:

3/4 to 1 cup hulless oats, dry*
homemade almond milk
1 banana, sliced
2-3 strawberries, sliced
2-3 Tbsp organic raisins
2 Tbsp chia seeds
cinnamon, to taste (optional)

Preparation: sprouted oat breakfast

*Refer to the user guide that came with your Markito Nutrition kit to sprout the oats for approximately two days. We like it best when sprouted for 36 hours.

Toss all of the ingredients along with the almond milk in a large cereal bowl.

Put enough almond milk to cover the ingredients and wait 2-3 minutes for the chia to soak up some of the milk. Enjoy!

Makes 1 – 2 servings.

Note: for the real truth about whole grains, I encourage you to watch our video: Exposing The Whole Grain Myth. Also, if you cannot find a good source of hulless oats, other grains, such as rye, kamut, barley, or even buckwheat can be used instead. Just remember to sprout your grains!

Bon Appétit!
